Founders’ Story

Slate Pencil was born from a simple realization: access to quality skill-based education shouldn't depend on language, privilege, or location. While working with public institutions and technology platforms, we saw a recurring gap, brilliant minds across towns and villages were being left behind due to language barriers, one-size-fits-all content, and a lack of contextual support.

We started Slate Pencil in 2024 with a mission to change that.

The name Slate Pencil is symbolic — of the first tool we all held while learning. It's a reminder that education must start from where people are, not where the system wants them to be. Our approach is different: small learning clusters, community-powered engagement, and education delivered in Bengali, the language of our hearts.

Backed by years of experience in technology, governance, and grassroots innovation, we built a platform that’s as local as it is future-ready combining the warmth of peer learning with the power of AI, digital tools, and community intelligence.
